devo & decor.

at our church we have a wonderfully devoted youth pastor named dan.. and it has been on his heart to meet the spiritual needs of the junior high girls in particular. he put things into place: a young woman to share the message, worship, eats!, decor, all completed by a team of ladies with hearts to serve. the special breakfast devotional happened saturday morning. while i wasn't there for the actual devo, i did learn that two girls accepted Christ and others were touched in specific ways. the Lord is good, faithful, true. i'm thankful to have had a behind the scenes role in this event, to put together a bit of staging, as well as pray.

our church was transformed from a very large office building to a warm & vibrant haven. upstairs is where the junior high and high school folks meet. this is but one part of the room. one day i'll share lots more pictures. but for now, a few.

this is but a small part of the room. i set up my little display on friday night.. by saturday morning about eight couches (from other parts of the room/church) and additional chairs were in place, making way for comfy, relaxed seating.

the wall design as well as the painting above the couch was done by sweet wendy, the daughter of a dear friend .. wendy was my daughter's babysitter and "big sister." she's a gifted artist and designer. she and her husband's home was featured in a major magazine a while back. i'll see if i can find the link and post it in the near future. wendy and her husband are presently on a grand adventure teaching english in a faraway place. they're missed.

i went with simple ..
pretty frame and mirror,
coffee cups, and gerber daisies
in white and black.

held in place by those stickie thingies.
the back of the package reads that
they won't hurt the paint. right.
wrong! it took the paint off the wall
in one corner. sighhh.....

i brought a little dresser from home
along with a gold bust, bible, and
picture. the picture was done by a
talented lady i know.. we traded
junque at a mobile boutique
we were part of a couple years back.
i love the lyrics to this song ..
thought the girls would as well.

coffee spot.

lyrics:

"How He Loves"
(originally by John Mark McMillan)
He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us ..

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us ..

And we are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If his grace is an ocean, we're all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don't have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about the way...

He loves us,
Oh, how He loves us...

  1. I love the way God uses us when we are willing. Your talents display who He has created you to be - creative, loving and caring. What a sweet place for the girls to meet. So thankful two came to know Jesus in a personal way. What joy!

  7. Friend,

I love seeing you use the gifts that HE has given to you, and know that it blessed those girls. Girls need real beauty. The words of that song are wonderful - it's a favorite around here!
