Ecclesiastes 3:1 shares that there is a time
for everything, and a season for every
activity under the heavens..
then goes on to say,
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
in that vein i consider this life
and how it offers twists and turns,
round-a-bouts and respite,
malice and mercies,
goofs and grace,
sweet swirls and stinging swarms,
joys and sorrows,
expected ... and not,
angst and adulation.
the fictional character forrest gump said,
"life is like a box of chocolates,
you never know what you're going to get."
if we knew in advance what life would offer we wouldn't be in a place to trust in a Holy God who desires to draw us close, tend our singed and soot-saturated feathers, and massage our hearts to life once again. and again. and many times yet again. we can fully rely on His grace and mercy, for He is omniscient and omnipresent. He sees beyond what we as mere humans might understand in heart or wisdom. this life is but a whisper in eternity's span.. with our promised forever being timeless.
it's seemingly such a risk, this trusting thing.
to let go. to leave *it* (whatever *it* is) to heaven.
and yet ~ He's the One Who has all & every thing
in the palm of His hand.
surely.. surely! i can put my cares on the altar of grace.
beginning anew .. today. every day.
step by step
mercy by mercy
grace by grace.
