    Thank you for posting this. My Dad served in WW ll and passed last year on May 26th Memorial Day so this year I have great pause. I loss a cousin in Vietnam he died a hero.

    1. your father was part of what is known as the *greatest generation* .. thinking of you at this time, i'm sure your sorrow is fresh. and for your cousin: yes, he died a hero. we need always remember that for our American soldiers who were part of the vietnam war. bless you dearly at this time..

      many in our military gave the ultimate sacrifice so we could live in freedom.
      i'm thankful for this 'holiday' as it reminds us to pause and recall that sacrifice.
      it isn't a national burger day.

  3. AMEN!!!! So grateful to all those who have served since our countrys inception and ever so much more grateful for all those who gave their life for us and our freedom!!!! I must say also that i am indiscribably grateful to God for making a way of reconciliation for us with Himself thru Christ Jesus, freedom of a different and blessed kind!!! ~tammy

  4. Remembering those who've given the ultimate sacrifice. Have you seen the movie "Taking Chance?" It is about a Marine who escorts a fallen soldier to his hometown for burial. It shows the effort that goes in to preparing the bodies, and the care they take, and how people show respect all along the trip home. Its a wonderful movie. Amazon has it on streaming.
