contentment.

"Her eyes were fixed on eternity. Her tomorrows belonged to God. She had given them to Him. And because all her tomorrows were nestled in God's strong arms, she was free to live today. One day at a time she could make the right choices and grow to possess the holy habit of contentment. Her focus was eternal, and her focus led to internal contentment. She possessed a soul sufficiency,
a peace separate from her circumstances."

Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow

Philippians 4:11-13New King James Version (NKJV)

11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ[a] who strengthens me.

  1. Aw, yes. Contentment. A wonderful place to be. To stop striving, to let go and allow Christ to rule. In Him there is strength. In Him there is contentment. Hugs, my friend. ~ Nancy

    1. you shared, "stop striving - allow Christ to rule - in HIM there is strength, contentment." and you're so right. in and of ourselves, we have no lasting strength - for His burden is light - and His strength endures.

  5. Sherry, this book was one of the biggest blessings for me about 14 yrs ago. Such a sweet grace of God. The depression was so bad, and God used it to help heal me. I was not only depressed i was terrified of a life situation that was happening. Another amazing resource God has used is Seeking Him. That is a Biblestudy. God used it to help me understand His outrageous Grace!!! That was more recently (about 4 yrs ago). Sounds like life is overwhelming for me. And i will tell you, about 4 times in my life it has been. God has been the help i never deserved and the balm of healing that is miraculous!!! So grateful. Dear One i hope that He has used Mrs. Dillows book as a means of sweet Grace in your heart and mind. Much love~tammy

    1. you're such a joyful woman - the last thing i expected to learn is that you experienced deep depression. i'm thankful (odd?) because through that painful experience God enabled you to have mercy on others in such a precious way. {{{gentle hugs}}}
