when our daughter was but knee high to a grasshopper she referred to yogurt as 'gurt.' and to this day, when speaking of yogurt, invariably the hubs and i will call it gurt. as such, i chose to have gurt for breakfast .. and topped with junque.
i use whole milk plain greek gurt. i buy the trader joe's brand cuz it doesn't have all the strange sugar taste from the sweetened varieties of gurt. i love the texture and taste - slightly sour - of this particular gurt, more than traditional store greek gurt.
way more. like, no comparison.
because whole milk gurt contains more calories and fat, i lessen the amount i consume to half. in this dish is 1/4 cup whole milk plain greek gurt from trader joe's. on top of that is 1 tablespoon local honey. super local. as in, 2 houses away type local. our neighbor tom has pet bees in his back yard. another neighbor has pet chickens but she doesn't share eggs. guess who i like better? kidding kidding. sort of.
then on top of the greek gurt and honey from tom's pet bees, went a quarter cup cereal and half a banana. this makes one of the best breakfasts or even as a dessert when you really want ice cream but don't have it in the house cuz you'll consume the entire quart in a sitting and pay for it later in a big way.
did i just say that out loud?
oh. cancel that.
